Acid phosphatase (APase) is a non-specific phosphomonoesterase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of monoesters and anhydrides of phosphoric acid to produce inorganic phosphate with pH range 4.0-7.0 (optimum activity at pH 5.7, optimal temperature at 45 °C).

CAS: 9001-77-8
Enzyme Commission (EC) Number 3.1.3.2
Source: Wheat Germ
Molecular weight: ~58 kDa
Purity: 90%
Form: Lyophilized powder
Store: -20°C
Activity (approx.): 0.5 U/mg solid
Unit Definition: One unit will hydrolyze 1.0 μmole of p-nitrophenyl phosphate per min at pH 4.8 at 37 °C. The rate of the reaction is determined by measuring the increase in absorbance at 405 nm resulting from the release of p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl phosphate.
